Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture without even thinking
Instead, fix your attention to God
God brings the best out of you
ROMANS 12:1-2 (MSG)
1-2 So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.
Culture today is perhaps one of the biggest problems across the world. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture, that you compromise God’s standards. Don’t be afraid; God has redeemed you. He has called your name. You are His. When you’re in over your head, He’ll be there with you. When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down. When you’re between a rock and a hard place, it won’t be a dead-end— Because He is God, your personal God, The Holy of Israel, your Saviour. He paid a huge price for you. That’s how much you mean to Him! That’s how much He loves you! He’d sell off the whole world to get you back, trade the creation just for you. This is a time of the restoration of the rule of the sons of God. It is time for sons to be given to the world. It is time for the people of God to become mature. God is establishing His Kingdom, building His temple and restoring the image of His Son. Nothing is going to stop it. God is raising a church with power and authority. A city on a hill…– Dr Ben Kleynhans Sunday, 6 September: Storms and Uncertainty, by Dr Ben Kleynhans: “God will use storms to find our way to our destiny and purpose”.
NAHUM 1:3 (AMP)
3 The Lord is slow to anger and great in power And He will by no means leave the guilty unpunished. The Lord has His way in the whirlwind and in the storm, And the clouds are the dust beneath His feet.
Sunday, 13 September: Progress Upon My High Places, by Pastor Louwrens Viljoen: “Now is your time to progress. The Lord God is causing your progression through His word”.
HEBREWS 3:17-19 (AMP)
17 And with whom was He angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose dead bodies were scattered in the desert? 18 And to whom did He swear [an oath] that they would not enter His rest, but to those who disobeyed [those who would not listen to His word]? 19 So we see that they were not able to enter [into His rest—the promised land] because of unbelief and an unwillingness to trust in God.
Sunday, 20 September: Circumcising the Heart for God to Remember His Covenant, by Pastor George Mkandawire: “When circumcision of your heart takes place, you will live because God will remember His covenant”.
LEVITICUS 26:40-42 (AMP)
40 ‘If they confess their wickedness and the wickedness of their forefathers, in their unfaithfulness which they have committed against Me—and also in their acting with hostility toward Me— 41 I also was acting with hostility toward them and brought them into the land of their enemies—then if their uncircumcised (sin-filled) hearts are humbled and they accept the punishment for their wickedness, 42 then I will remember My covenant with Jacob, and also My covenant with Isaac, and also My covenant with Abraham, and remember the land
Sunday, 27 September: Restoration of God’s Household, by Dr Ben Kleynhans: “Sin, fully ripened will produce fatherlessness, and fatherlessness will destroy nations beyond hope”.
ISAIAH 1:26-28 (AMP)
26 “Then I will restore your judges as at the first, And your counselors as at the beginning; Afterward you will be called the city of righteousness, The faithful city.” 27 Zion will be redeemed with justice And her repentant ones with righteousness. 28 But rebels and sinners will be crushed and destroyed together, And those who abandon (turn away from) the Lord will be consumed (perish).
